Join us for no-host cocktails at Hollywood’s legendary Asian hilltop palace - a former private residence built in 1914. We will be at an outdoor deck with a koi pond overlooking views of Hollywood and Downtown Los Angeles. Stay tuned for more details and history!

The name Yamashiro translates as “Mountain Palace” in Japanese. In 1911, the German American brothers Adolph Leopold and Eugene Elija Bernheimer began construction of the hilltop 10-bedroom mansion to house their priceless collection of Asian treasures. Hundreds of craftsmen were brought from the Orient to recreate the replica of a palace located in the “Yamashiro” province mountains near Kyoto, Japan. It sits 250 feet above Hollywood Boulevard and was completed in 1914.

We look forward to conversations about historic Los Angeles, vintage clothing and cars, home restorations and much more!

This gathering is free, but you are on the hook for food and beverage you wish to consume.

Traditionally, the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles members gather once a month in an historic building with a bar, to socialize and revel in the beauty of historic architecture. It is our duty to patronize businesses in historic buildings! We welcome interested persons to join us.

This no-host cocktail gathering is open to members and non-members alike, and no reservations are required to attend.

HOWEVER, if you wish to dine at Yamashiro you must make a dinner reservation. Click the green button to go to Yamashiro’s website.

Valet is $16.

PARKING
There is parking at Yamashiro. Drive up the hill and into the parking lot. Parking is $16.

DINING

Yamashiro serves Asian fusion cuisine and offers a full bar.

LOCATION AT YAMASHIRO
The area where we will congregate is on the far side of the restaurant from where you enter. Walk all the way around the walkway along the deck overlooking Hollywood and when you get toward the end you will see an area near a koi pond. The space is on the deck. Of course you are welcome to also experience the interior bar. We will have a dedicated bartender outside. See photos of the area that were taken on our scouting day below.

This is the part of the deck where we will gather on Sunday, August 4.
