Swan around the lake with ADSLA!
Join us for a morning out on one Los Angeles' most beautiful lakes for a Swan Pedal Boat ride and a tour of the park with the Echo Park Historical Society.
Our expedition includes communing with the Art Deco Lady of the Lake statue, as well as geese, turtles, fish and other wildlife in the park. A guide from the Echo Park Historical Society will enlighten us about origins of the 1892 park, the adjacent, Victorian Carroll Avenue neighborhood, its place in early silent comedy filmmaking and evangelism, the history of the Lotus blossoms and more!
This is a perfect time to don your Summer whites and twirl your parasols! Do bear in mind that it can get a little wet in the boats. You may wish to bring something to sit on and plan your wardrobe accordingly.
This is a family friendly, outdoor event.
Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
We have the pedal boats between 10am and noon. We will have two sessions of boating, 10 AM and 11 AM. You will be required to wear a provided flotation vest during your ride. The guide from the Echo Park Historical Society will meet us at the boathouse at 12:15 PM to start our tour.
The park has pathed walkways. The tour will require being able to walk the circumference of the park.
Further details will be sent to ticket buyers.

PARKING:
There is street parking on the residential side streets surrounding the park. As always, check signs for limitations. There is a paid public parking lot with limited spaces at 1149 Echo Park Ave. We also suggest looking for street parking up Laguna Avenue.
LUNCH:
The restaurant in the boathouse has reopened as Piknik from the owners of The Lonely Oyster! We encourage you to walk up to Sunset to dine locally at Sage in the historic Jensen Recreation Center, Rodeo Express Mexican Grill and other neighborhood eateries (including a grocery store). There are also some interesting independent stores such as Stories, a bookshop and the unique The Echo Park Time Travel Mart, as well as a vintage clothing store in the immediate area.
There are a few picnic tables, but picnics on the grass are not recommended due to the large number of geese living in the park. There are several restaurants (in historic buildings), a short walk from the park, on Sunset Boulevard for lunch following. There are food trucks on Saturdays that stop along the perimeter of the park.
