Virtual Events & Streaming

Wishing to stay in touch during the pandemic, the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles started holding monthly members only Salons. Several members were selected each month to give a short talk on an Art Deco era topic via Zoom. Conversation ensued surrounding each “share.” Our creative members have shared everything from a 1920s bathing suit collection to a series of photos that one vintage car collector took, in front of some beautiful Art Deco buildings! Out of these salons emerged a regular program of virtual presentations. As Art Deco lovers joined us from around the globe, we continued talks on Harlem Renaissance Fashion, LA DWP Buildings, Los Angeles Art Deco Lost Treasures, the Richfield Building and the Pan Pacific Auditorium, Jazz Age Operettas, Art Deco Jewelry and more!

Hollywood Forever Cemetery Living History Tour 2026

For the 43rd year, the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles “digs up the dirt” on Hollywood history - including a few scandals - via a living history walking tour of the 127-year-old Hollywood Forever Cemetery at 6000 Santa Monica Boulevard. Visit the gravesites of early Hollywood stars, movie moguls, and the pioneers who shaped Los Angeles, to hear fascinating tales about their lives (both their accomplishments and misdeeds) from historians and living history performances.

Tours will commence every 20 minutes, rain or shine, between 9:00 and 11:00 AM.

For four years, from 1930 through 1934, Hollywood was hard to tame. Many films produced during the pre-Code era brazenly tackled an array of risque subjects, from sexual freedom to lawlessness to racial taboos. Made during the depths of the Great Depression, these movies pushed the bounds of societal and cultural norms as Hollywood studios saw their profits plummeting and were determined to lure audiences into theaters in any way possible. In this presentation, Pre-Code Essentials authors Danny Reid and Kim Luperi explore the fascinating history of the period with spotlights on some of the most provocative and shocking elements and movies of the era.
