SOLD OUT

Join the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles in person to for our signature walking tour of Los Angeles’ iconic Miracle Mile. This historic area retains a fairly high concentration of Art Deco and Streamline Moderne buildings, including ADSLA’s latest nominee for historic cultural monument status, The Sontag Building.

Born in the 1920s, this brainchild of A.W. Ross was conceived as a street to rival the great boulevards of Europe - - elegant and spacious, populated by stylish shops- - and the chicest people! (And this being Los Angeles, plenty of available parking!) A.W. Ross's dream has developed into one of the country's most famous urban enclaves - - featuring a treasure trove of Art Deco
architecture.

About Your Tour Guide:

Urban anthropologist J. Eric Lynxwiler is the co-author of “Knott’s Preserved: From Boysenberry to Theme Park, The History Of Knott’s Berry Farm” and “Wilshire Boulevard: Grand Concourse of Los Angeles.”

Neon enthusiasts may know Eric as the affable host of the memorable Neon Cruise for the Museum of Neon Art and downtown LA preservationists know him as an LA Conservancy docent for the Broadway Theater district.

Tour participants should be in good health and able to walk a mile. The tour begins near Wilshire and La Brea and ends near Wilshire and Hauser. Since the tour doesn't make a loop back to where it starts, you may want to park somewhere in the middle. The meeting location and other details will be sent when tickets are purchased.

ADSLA Members: $25 per person
**Non-members: $30 per person

*ADSLA student, senior and individual members may purchase ONE ticket. All other membership levels can purchase up to TWO tickets.

Tickets are not yet on sale. Members will receive an email with a private link to purchase a ticket. We regret that we can’t accommodate more people, but for the best experience, the group will be limited in size. We suggest that you act quickly when you get the link.

All tickets will be sold in advance. No tickets will be sold at the tour itself. Social distancing and masks will be required.
