Beach Pajamas were all the rage during the Jazz Age. They allowed women comfort and coverage while romping in the sun in an era when wearing pants was illegal in many places. Characterized by an ultra wide leg and made of silk, linen and other lightweight fabrics (often with bold prints or striking colors), they were the height of resort fashion in the 1920s and 30s. It was wealthy women who summered at the French seaside who fostered the trend which latter became mass market.
Fashion historian Martha Davis will give an illustrated presentation on the fad that liberated women.
PARKING:
Free parking is available in the parking lot behind the Blinn House, at 165 N. Madison. Although the signs suggest that you need to pay by app, there is no charge to park there. Proceed from the parking lot to the back entrance to our lecture room (the door will be open) to check in. The Art Deco Egyptian Revival Scottish Rite Cathedral is across the street from the parking lot. If you pass it, you have gone too far.
HOW TO FIND THE PARKING & ENTER THE BLINN HOUSE “HUNT ROOM”
The images below are for reference. 1) The Scottish Rite Temple directly across the street from the parking lot behind the Blinn House, 2) The area of the parking lot directly behind the Blinn House, that we will fill first, before parking in the portion of the lot closest to the driveway entrance. 3) The back entrance to the Blinn House that we will use to enter the Myron Hunt room where the event is taking place. 4) The front of the Blinn House on the cul-de-sac adjacent to the Fuller Theological Seminary. There is sometimes parking on this street, but if you find some, you will still need to enter through the back.
