The 1929 Art Deco Hoffman Candy Company and 1931 Silberberg buildings go to the Planning & Land Use Management Committee for consideration as Historic Cultural Monuments on TUESDAY!. The case for these buildings will be heard on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at a virtual (Zoom) meeting that begins at 2:00 PM PT. We are #4 & #5 on the agenda.

Remember, your support can be as simple as writing or saying, “I support the Historic Cultural Monument nomination for the Hoffman Candy Company (and/or the Silberberg Building).”

The Art Deco Society of Los Angeles goes through a nomination process for buildings that we identify as being “historically significant.” We are now in phase 3 of this process with the Art Deco Hoffman Candy Company in Southeast Los Angeles and the Silberberg Building in the Beverly Fairfax neighborhood. We need YOUR PARTICIPATION to achieve a preservation victory. Please read on.

To be effective, we need the public to get behind our nomination, by writing letters of support to key decision-makers and advisors in this process and/or appearing to express encouragement to the city to landmark the building.
