A Virtual Visit to the Hoffman Candy Company

Join us for a delicious dive into the history of the Los Angeles founded chocolate manufacturer, Hoffman Candy (established 1911) with ADSLA President Margot Gerber and Grandson of Elic A. Hoffman, Craig Hoffman (and other special guests) to look at photos from the family collection including candy packaging with Art Deco design and even photos of the Art Deco daylight factory being built, plus, we will delve into the rise of this confectioner in the Art Deco Era.

As you all know, the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles has successfully nominated the Hoffman Candy Company building for Historic Cultural Monument status. The vote was unanimous to recommend it to City Council, at the Cultural Heritage Commission level. We still have two more hearings before it is a done deal, so while wait, we want to share this glorious building, brought to our attention by @SwapmeetChronicles (who will also appear as a guest on this Zoom presentation) last year during preservation month. The cultural history of a building is one of the criteria for Historic Cultural Monument status and this one is oozing with it like hot fudge on an ice cream Sunday!

Because it’s virtual, you will have to source your own signature Hoffman Cup ‘O Gold to savor while at this presentation. They are available locally or online!

This is a free presentation.
