Lights, Camera, Cocktails!
Step back in time to an era embodied in a single classic structure and enjoy cocktails as they were meant to be created. Carthay Circle Theatre has more influence on our modern-day media than we acknowledge, and it just might take a couple home-made cocktails to help comprehend how one man’s idea nearly 100 years ago, has led to this event.
Please join your Spirits Advisors, Beth and James Silverman, two of the original bartenders fortunate to open the famed Carthay Circle Restaurant and Lounge in Disney’s CA Adventure as they share moments in history from the original structure while crafting cocktails inspired by the modern culinary destination spot.
A favorite premiere palace of Walt Disney, the Carthay Circle Theatre hosted the premiere of SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARVES. FANTASIA and MARY POPPINS also played the Carthay Circle. The theater was just as famous as the Chinese for premieres, but was demolished in 1969 and an office building went up in its place.
Entertainment during our Cocktail Hour, will appropriately include Bank of Harmony, because these four harmonizers actually met singing on Main Street USA with the "Dapper Dans of Disneyland", arguably the most infamous barbershop quartet in the country.
Plus, we will take a look at some of the Disney recreations of Art Deco architecture. Sadly, many of our great Old Hollywood icons have been demolished (or nearly so). The Carthay Circle Theatre and Brown Derby are among those that have been reimagined by Disney in their theme parks. Disney has definitely utilized the Art Deco and Streamline Moderne styles to evoke the glamour of bygone days.
This event promises something for everyone, from theatre history fans to Cocktail mixers and imbibers and Disney lovers!
All ticket buyers for this virtual cocktail hour will receive an ingredient list ahead of time. That way you can mix along at home. AND, all participants will also be able to access Jeudi's Carthay Circle playlist on Spotify, created just for the occasion!
