Nothing evokes Jazz Age elegance like Art Deco. On this walking tour, learn how it made its way to L.A., why it became such a defining architectural style, and about the craftspeople who created these soaring structures and their iconic details. Clean lines and geometric patterns proved a perfect style for L.A. in the ‘20s and ‘30s, and an extraordinary collection of these masterpieces still stand in the heart of the city.
You’ll step inside the entryway to the Cicada Club or the jaw-dropping lobby of CalEdison to experience first-hand the glamour of Old Hollywood on a walking tour that highlights the best that downtown has to offer.
This tour, led by Los Angeles Conservancy docents, lasts approximately 2.5 hours and includes some interiors as well as exteriors. You will mostly be outside on city streets. Wear comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, etc.
Route covers approximately 12 blocks; includes small inclines and some stairs.
Please arrive at least 20 minutes before the tour departs. Once it is moving, you will not be able to join in progress.
The tour will meet at Pershing Square and move to multiple locations from there. See below for meeting location details.

Tickets must be purchased online by Friday, Sept. 27 at 2:00 PM. If we have space left, we will allow walk ups, but tickets are cash only, exact change.

Tickets will be offered first to members of the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles. Some remaining tickets may be available to non-members. Once you join you will have access to members only events!

PARKING
You can park underground at Pershing Square. The lot has automated parking machines. The address associated with this event at the top left of this page is the address for the garage. Other area lots are available. Read signs carefully!
METRO
You can take the Metro directly to Pershing Square. The station is served by the Red and Purple lines.
MEETING LOCATION
Tour meets at Pershing Square, a one-block park located between Olive, Hill, Fifth, and Sixth Streets at 532 S. Olive Street, Los Angeles, 90013. Check-in occurs in the center of the park near the mini-groves of Orange trees. NOTE: If one end of the park is closed, there is typically access to the center through the Olive Street and Hill Street mid-block breezeways. If those entrances are also closed due to filming or a private event, tours will congregate at the southwest corner of the park, at the corner of 6th Street and Olive Street.
Parking: Pershing Square underground garage, 532 S. Olive Street, Los Angeles, 90013, at the corner of Sixth and Olive Streets. The garage has entrances from both Sixth and Olive Streets. $9 after 5pm on weekdays and all day on weekends.
