To celebrate "Repeal Day" with the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles on December 5. This Cocktail Soiree commemorates the repeal of the Volstead Act – the law that called for the prohibition of alcohol across the United States. In addition to a brief history of the social experiment that deprived the nation of (legal) alcohol and created the fascinating era of Speakeasies and bootleggers, we will share cocktail recipes, see a vintage absinthe fountain and toast the end of prohibition.
Individuals leading us through this evening of vice, are Rory Cunningham, Athene Kovacic, Walter Nelson, Karie Prescott and Steve Simon with more to be announced. We’ll learn to make prohibition era cocktails like the Manhattan and Aviation as well as some good old fashioned bath tub gin. For a more elegant presentation, we will see a glass of Absinthe prepared with a vintage fountain.
Members who wish to present or demonstrate the making of a favorite 20s/30s cocktail recipe or to show off their vintage barware, are encouraged to contact us at adsla.membership@gmail.com to sign up.
Come dressed in your vintage cocktail attire if you like and bring along a libation to lift in our toast to "intoxicating liquors" and a much better 2021!
Spectators are also welcome.
