Discover the birthplace of the film industry and experience the glamour and modernity that Hollywood Boulevard has to offer in this Art Deco Society of Los Angeles walking tour in and around Hollywood Boulevard.
Our tour will take you through the neighborhood to see what it was, what it is, and what it will be. By the end of the tour, you'll be able to identify the unique features of Art Deco and Streamline Moderne architecture.
As a microcosm of Los Angeles' post-World War I architectural boom, Hollywood Boulevard is an Art Deco lover's dream with some Streamline Moderne in the mix. Explore famous Hollywood landmarks such as the Kress and Max Factor buildings, as well as hidden gems that may have gone unnoticed. You'll witness palaces of commerce as well as small business owners' dreams come to life. The tour features the Mountain States Life Building/Yucca Tower, our latest Historical Cultural Monument success.
The tour, which was founded in 2011, will begin outside the iconic Pantages Theater and will take you on a journey west on Hollywood Boulevard, exploring stunning exteriors along the way. The tour will conclude near the intersection of Hollywood & Highland.

PARKING:
We recommend parking in a lot or garage between Vine Street and Highland Avenue, as meters (now $4/hour) are generally limited to one to two hours. Metro also serves the neighborhood, with stations at both Hollywood & Vine and Hollywood & Highland. We look forward to you joining us on this exciting adventure!
KNOW BEFORE YOU BUY A TICKET:
This is an in person event. The walk is approximately 1.5 miles outdoors and possibly more, depending on where you park. There is nowhere to sit down, but you are welcome to bring a folding stool/chair for the moments when we pause to discuss a building.
The approximately 2.5 hour tour is limited to two groups of 20 persons. It will commence rain or shine!
This tour does not include interiors of most buildings.
Photography is encouraged except when specifically stated that it is prohibited.
Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring sunscreen, a hat, umbrella and a water bottle. We will be walking through a commercial district, so there will be opportunities to quickly purchase food or beverage, but the tour has no planned spots.
Restroom facilities are not provided on the tour, but we will pass through commercial districts where you might be able to use a restroom if you make a purchase. The Ovation shopping complex at Hollywood and Highland has public restrooms. Also consider hotel lobby restrooms.
